Ragamuffin Patterns 1st annual “Ugly Sweater” Challenge

Ugly sweater challenge 2019

Who doesn’t love a good “ugly sweater”? You see them in every store around the holidays. But why buy one when you can create your very own “Ugly Sweater” for any occasion. With just a few sewing tips and a little creativity, you can create a custom sweater tailored to your specific interests.

I made my “Ugly Sweater” with a taste of Christmas and a western twist. I started with the Dynamite pattern and since I don’t have an embroidery machine, I used the hand cut applique technique to create my Cowgirl Clause and Christmas cactus. If you’re not familiar with this method you can watch my YouTube tutorial. You can download your FREE Western gingerbread template below.

Our December #SewingChallenge is to create an “Ugly Sweater” of your own. The Rules and details can be found in my Facebook group. The challenge starts December 9 and ends January 9, 2020, and will be held in the group as well.

A few things to note- You must use a Ragamuffin Pattern for your sweater base. It doesn’t have to be a “sweater”. You can doll up the skirt on a dress or embellish the back of the blazer. Our kids raglan and Trailblazer tie patterns are free (coupon code is in our Facebook group )and you can choose to use those if You can choose any theme you’d like, holiday or not. There are 4 albums to upload your work. Each album is labeled and dated for each step of the challenge.

A winner will be picked from each weeks submissions at the end of each week period. You can upload your pictures whenever you’d like, you do not have to wait for the next week to add your picture to any of the albums. However if your entry is not in the album before the end date you will not be entered in that weeks drawing.
