Little Ragamuffin’s Fandom Fun Challenge

🎵  ‘Tis the season for costume making… FaFaFaFaFa Fa-andom time! 🎵

It’s Fall, the season of so many wonderful things, like sweater weather, scarves, pumpkin spice (if that’s your cup of tea… or coffee or jam or pastry or hair color…), the total acceptance of wearing leggings every day, and my ultimate fave– costuming!

I absolutely love to create costumes inspiration by characters from iconic movies, TV shows, and comic books. I also get jazzed up when I have the opportunity to designing daily wear outfits that showcase a specific theme. Let’s just say I love to dress for the occasion and sometimes that occasion is a true crime convention, pizza expo, chillin’ at Star Wars themed bar, or simply going out for Halloween.

Just in case you have no clue what I’m talking about here’s a few examples of my all time favorite fandom fun sews to give you an idea (and inspiration) of what this challenge is all about.

Challenge Info

All you need to do is sew something using any Ragamuffin sewing pattern for yourself or someone else in your own unique fandom way and share a picture of your Fandom Fun in action. This is absolutely open to your interpretation and creativity.

There will be some voting to determine the winners of this contest, so make sure your entry stands out. You may use photoshop, app filters, props, real life backgrounds, heck you could even make a fun video — This would be AMAZING to see! Just make sure your sewing is the focus and doesn’t get lost in the amazing photo shoot you have planned.

A few things to note before you get started

You MUST use a Ragamuffin Pattern for your Fandom Fun (daily wear or full on costume) creation. Using Ragamuffin Fabric is optional, but will earn you an extra entry into the giveaway. This challenge is open to any style garment you’d like. Meaning it doesn’t have to be the traditional “Halloween” costume. If you’re not really into the whole character accuracy thing, this is your chance to get extra creative and create a character or fandom “inspired “daily wear outfit. Let your fandom show and your inner nerd out! Come and cosplay with us now- Nov 1.

There is no limit to this challenge except you and your creativity. You can make this challenge as intricate or basic as you wish. You may choose any style pattern and fabric you’d like. My shop is full of great options but there is no requirement to use Ragamuffin Fabrics for this challenge. You may also use other pattern companies for this challenge, however your entry outfit must be 75% Ragamuffin Patterns to qualify.

Lastly, your entry DOES NOT have to be sewn during the challenge period. You MAY use any fandom sew you’ve created using any Ragamuffin Pattern at any time prior to this challenge as long as you have NOT entered it in a previous sewing challenge. It’s been awhile since we’ve done a cosplay/ fandom challenge, so dig out those old sews and take some new pics (or just grab your old pics of your old sews) and let your fandom show in this months sewing challenge.

How to submit your “Fandom Fun Challenge” entry

• Upload to the album in my Facebook group
• Upload to the album in my MeWe group
• Tag me on Instagram
• Email me, Jenn@LittleRagamuffin.com your photo entry. Please use the subject line: Fandom Fun Challenge

*The Facebook and MeWe albums will be available October 1, 2022

Three winners will be selected from all the entries. One will be picked at random using the wheel of names a random name picker, and the other winners will be voted on by our Ragamuffin community. There will be two categories for this challenge.

• Character/ costume accuracy (Full on character costume head to toe)
• Fandom/ theme accuracy (Daily wear & non costume entries)
  
  I will upload all the photo entries into a google form where it will be shared on social media, as well as sent out in our newsletter for voting. Voting will begin November 2, 2022.

What could you win?

All three winners will receive:

• A super awesome prize pack from my Edna prize box (I have a ton of hard to find Edna Mode collectables ready to find a new home)
• 3 yard mystery fabric pack
• $50 shop credit to use as they wish on anything they wish (not valid for shipping expense)

Voting rules & guidelines

• One vote per person
• Please refrain from voter fraud (keep all voting to our online sewing community only)
  illegitimate/ fake votes may result in disqualification
• You may share your work anywhere it’s allowed in order to gain more votes, but please
  keep all sharing to the online sewing community only– example: sharing in a yard sale group to ask for votes is no bueno
• You may NOT vote for yourself

All entries must be submitted before 11:59pm PST on November 1, 2022. Voting November 2-6, 2022. The winners will be announced in November 7, 2022.
